Sonoro
Michael Higgins (piano)
Neil Ferris (conductor)
London consort Sonoro, with pianist Michael Higgins and conductor Neil Ferris, returns to Resonus Classics with this project of new and established works. The recording consists of six newly-commissioned contemporary works, each from a different composer and each paired with the well-known earlier work from which the composer drew inspiration.
Featured on the album are new works from Janet Wheeler, Will Todd, Russell Hepplewhite, Cheryl Frances-Hoad, James McCarthy and Joanna Marsh, who were in turn inspired by Charles Villiers Stanford's Beati quroum via, Anton Bruckner's Locus iste, Sergei Rachmaninov's Bógoroditse Dévo, Johannes Brahms's Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, Thomas Tallis' If ye love me and Josef Rheinberger's Abendlied.
